Oxnard’s population was 202,063 in 2020, and is largely Latino. It is the most populous city in the Oxnard–Thousand Oaks–Ventura, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Its central Carnegie Art Museum displays contemporary California art in a former library, built in 1906.
On the Pacific Coast, Oxnard Beach Park has a wide, sandy shoreline and a grassy lawns, with picnic tables and views of Channel Islands National Park and the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary.
Oxnard is also a major transportation hub in Southern California, with Amtrak, Union Pacific, Metrolink, Greyhound, and Intercalifornias stopping there.
